Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, called the "Wolf of Rimini, was a Condottiere (warlord) from the Malatesta family, who reigned in Rimini as Vicars in the name of the Pope. But Sigismondo was considered to be trustless and lost the grace of the Holy See. Caused to propaganda he became the embodiment of a godless and depraved renaissance lord. In 1468 the Pope engaged him again for a campaign, during which Sigismondo contracted a deadly desease. He left 13 children but all of them were illegitimate.
