Caesar's supporter L. Hostilius Saserna designed this beautiful denarius for Caesar's archievments. Gallia, personification of the new province Gaul, symbolizes the victory over the Celtic tribes. The revers illustrates Diana as main goddess of Massalia (Marseille), which was captured by Caesar in 49 BC at the beginning of the Roman civil war.
