Der Skythenkönig Ko(ti)son starb um 29 v.Chr. Die Vs. ist dem Brutus-Denar von 54 v.Chr. (Cr.433/1) nachempfunden. Es liegt daher der Verdacht nahe, dass Ko(ti)son diese Goldstatere als finanziellen Beitrag zum Krieg des Brutus gegen die Besser, 43 v.Chr., ausmünzen ließ.
