This tetradrachm presents the real portrait of Alexander the Great for the first time. After his death Alexander's generals and followers fought for control over his empire. One of those who were able to took over control was Alexander's former bodyguard, Lysimachos. He and the other successors of Alexander are known as the so-called Diadochi.
