Als Tscherwonez (wörtlich "Roter") bezeichnete man im alten Russland ausländische Goldmünzen, hauptsächlich aber holländische Dukaten. 1923 wurde erstmals eine 10 Rubel Münze als Tscherwonez geprägt, in den Jahren 1975 bis 1982 nur zum Verkauf ins Ausland gegen Devisen. Heute ist sie eine klassische Anlagemünze.
