Due to the Dardanian and son of Aphrodite, Aeneas, who fought in Homer's Ilias for the Trojans, who escaped after the fall of the city to Italy as described in Vergil's Aenais and due to the self-image of Rome as new Troy, both landscapes of Troad and Latium are closely related to each other. Romulus and Remus form the link between Troy and Rome due to their succession to Aeneas and his marriage with Lavinia.
