The cryptogram in the mintmark is Greek and means eros, which in Latin is amor (love). Roma and amor are palindromes, which can be read forward and backward and mean the same. Thus Amor was the secret name of the city of Rome. So Aeneas was told by the gods to go to the land of his amor. There his successor Romulus founded the city of Rome. The temple of Venus and the temple of Roma were also located back to back.
