The obverse is illustrating the head of Venus, who helped Sulla at war against Mithridates. The Trophies on reverse are pointing to the Victories of Chaeronea 86 BC and Orchomenos 85 BC. The sacrifical instruments between them are emphasising Sulla's claim to power.
