C. Norbanus 83 BC. Denarius 18 mm 83 BC Rome. Diademed bust of Venus right, control-mark CXVI, C NORBANVS / Corn-ear, fasces with axe and caduceus. Cr. 357/1b; extremely fine, obv. slightly decentered
C. Norbanus was the first member of his gens, who was able to absolve the cursus honorum. During his twenty year civil service career, he served for Marc Antony and was governor of Sicily during the Social War (91-88 BC).
